Assistant Teaching

Whoo-hoo! I got it!

“Got what?” you ask. Well…:

Miss Tina, the owner of my dance studio, asked for volunteers to help with classes for younger children in the fall. I told her I would love to help! I sent her my top three choices for classes to assist, my number one being “Tiny Tots Ballet” for two and a half to four-year-old girls. On Friday evening, I received the exciting news that I have been given the class I was hoping for most!

I can’t wait to be a full-time assistant teacher in autumn! I even get a few dollars off my tuition for the year, so it’s almost like getting paid…!

Summer Classes– Thursday

Blue Pointe Shoes

Phew. Is it really Monday already? Where does the time go…?

Thursday was fantastic! Miss Sara has decided to incorporate Cecchetti Grade Two into our regular ballet class which brings a huge smile to my face. For the next few weeks we are going to focus a lot on Cecchetti– after all, the exams are on their way!

Besides regular ballet classes and Cecchetti work, I have started working on pointe! I may not have shoes, but I will soon. I am taking a 45 minute beginner pointe class (without shoes) this summer, and I already love it! Miss Sara recommended that we all buy a strong “Thera-band” to stretch our feet with. I found a pack of three at the store, but I’ll only be using the black band, as it is the strongest. I would most likely snap the blue and green bands before I could complete a single stretch… and nobody likes that.

And that, dancers, is how I spent my Thursday. If anything extraordinarily exciting happens in class this week, I’ll be here to tell every detail!

Just keep dancing, dancing, dancing…

Summer Classes– The Beginning, Tuesday

Yellow Pointe Shoes

That’s right, dancers! Summer classes have officially begun! Here are the details:

First of all, I walked in the studio.

Oh… wait. You probably don’t want THAT many details!

So, obviously, after walking into the studio, I had to give Miss Sara a huge hug because I haven’t seen her in forever! I normally see my ballet teacher three times a week, and because of break, I hadn’t seen her at all! Next, I had to find my dancer friends and hug them and ask them lots of questions. I didn’t think I would survive without my sisters for a whole month!

Then, it was time to dance! I had my normal ballet class with Miss Sara first. There were lots of girls I didn’t recognize in class, but I met a girl named April, and she seems very sweet. After an hour and 15 minutes, it was time for the Cecchetti Exam class! It was awesome! There are nine other girls who are training to take Grade 1 and Grade 2 with me. I am confident that we are going to pass! No one has EVER failed with Miss Sara before! I am shooting for a “Pass with Honors.” Miss Sara claims that no one receives the highest grade of all, but one can dream…!

That’s the highlights of my Tuesday! I will try to post again on Thursday, as I will have a new class to talk about.

Dance. Dance. Dance. And dance again.

Ballet Shoes

These look very similar to my new ballet shoes (leather, split-sole, x-strap).

Wow, that was one of those random comments….

Anyway, back on topic: summer classes begin tomorrow at exactly 12:30 P.M.! I’m so excited! My dance-bag (best bag in existence) is re-stocked full of all that amazing dancer-stuff including my new ballet shoes (Ah-ha! So, my subject title ISN’T irrelevant!).

Stay tuned! I will try to post all about my first day back at dance tomorrow (sometime after three o’ clock of course)!
