As I am in the process of moving a mile away from my previous home, life has been pretty hectic around here! The most troublesome part has been not having any internet connection. As of now, I am sitting in my old home (on the floor with my back against the hard wall) using its connection. And THIS, lovely dancers, is why this post was not up yesterday.
Technically, I had TWO rehearsals on Sunday, but the day was simply referred to as, “the third rehearsal.”
The first part of the day was for the “all party” cast (the entire party scene). Max, one of the Party Boys, was about 45 minutes late for the class. In that time, because I just so happen to be his height, I learned and played his part. At least I got to wear a sparkly cap…! At the same time, I watched Caroline; she plays my part in the two performances I am not cast in. Anything Caroline learns, I also have to learn and vice versa. We are partners of a kind. So, while being “Max,” I also had the task of learning my own part.
When Max finally DID arrive, I threw off my cap and went back to playing a Party Girl—yay! I am in the Group 1 entrance (we learned all entrances yesterday), meaning the first thing I do on stage is curtsy to some adults and then wave to Clara (Emma) who is positioned on the other side of the stage. Soon after, there is a “fight” over Clara’s doll (we used a stuffed dog) between Group 1 and the Party Boys. It is especially entertaining because we can’t speak—only act!
My second and last rehearsal was for Dance 1—we completed the dance! I think it is really quite fun!
Slightly random: Miss Patty often refers to us as “Clara’s Girls” during these rehearsals! What a fun title!
After class, I talked to Miss Patty concerning the fact that I will be traveling next Sunday and will not make it to the fourth rehearsal (for sure this time). I asked her if there was anything in particular I should work on while I’m away. She replied, “No, you are just a beautiful dancer.” I think my happiness was a bit too much to hide…! Patty also told me that the next seven to eight minutes on stage is simply mime—I should be able to catch on.
